My husband and I had been following ISU99 ever since it was announced. We were very excited for it to come to Mahaska County. We just happened to be in my home county of Henry when the box would be there. My husband was out of town, so my mom and I decided to try it out. We knew the clues would be given out between4:30 and 6:30. I kept refreshing the facebook page as soon as 4:30 hit. Once the clue was out, we knew it had to be at the Old Threshers grounds (where our county fair was currently taking place). I old her that there would already be so many people out there that there was no point. She said that we should try anyway. We ran to the car, yelling to my dad that we would be back, then we were off. The picture was of train tracks so we were racking our brain trying to think of which train tracks it would be (there are a lot on the grounds). As my mom was driving and we basically screamed every part of the conversation, she drove past the turn. After some frantic going around the block, we were heading in the right direction. We decided to try the north village first. As she was driving up I scream "I see the box!" and she just stops. I was pointing but she had no clue where I was pointing at. She tells me to get out and run, so I frantically unlocked the door (sadly this takes me a few tries) and started running up there. I saw another boy and he started to run too. As I got up to the box, there were two others who beat me. However, they did not know the password. There was also a lady who had been there a short while but didn't know it either. Well, thankfully my mom did some researching beforehand and knew the password. When the others didn't know, I went up touched the box and said "Cyclone State!" By this time my mom had gotten up there and we were officially winners! Such a great time and we were thrilled to tell our Iowa State boys (my husband '13 and brother '17) that we had won. Thanks for providing us with such a fun time! Go State!
